Books have always been one of my great loves so it is a real pleasure for peoples to be able to review some of the currently available works on invertebrates and their environment. The Book Review Literary Trust, set up in October 1989 to disseminate information about advances in knowledge and books, is a non-political, ideologically non-partisan organization, and seeks to reflect all shades of intellectual opinions and ideas. The Book Review India provides reviews of the newest environmentally and socially focused literature, non-political, ideologically non-partisan organization as well as a forum for user discussion. The Book Review India is a natural extension of Alternatives’ long history of great book reviews, and will provide an easy and central location to access many of these reviews.
The Trust administered between 1991-1995 a grant from the Ford Foundation to subsidize important Indian publications in the areas of environment, contemporary history and politics, women studies and international affairs. Over 60 titles were subsidized to make available seminal works for students and scholars at affordable prices. Book reviews tend to appear within 2-3 years of the book's first publication date. Reprints are seldom reviewed unless there have been major revisions or the book has been out of print for a long time. It is therefore important that you know the first date of publication.
