STDs, commonly known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are the most common infections affecting the global population. These are illnesses that are spread from person to person through sexual contact, most commonly through vaginal, anal, or oral. Reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) show that millions of people are infected with STDs each and every year. As a result, a number of public health initiatives have been established in order to effectively prevent the prevalence and incidence of STDs and promote the sexual health of the general public.
