The women turn up from different states with the same dream: to get rid of starvation and misery of their villages and tribes in India. However rather than functioning as domestic workers, they found themselves in a type of prison, employed by folks who see them noting less than slaves. One was jabbed with a knife, another snuffed out in boiling water, and another raped and sent behind the bars.
A number of photo-journalists and reporters till now have documented the suffering of women from several companies including India. These domestic workers and maids were subjected to a myriad of abuses while working for families in India as well as neighboring countries.
Actually these domestic workers are at the total mercy of the folks who view them almost like slaves. They blatantly call them as their own property. They do not have homes, do not have money, they are maimed and they are psychologically marred. They finish up coming home demeaned, and it emerges as a stigma. In a nutshell, their whole life is destroyed.
It is not actually a new story. Once a Malaysian couple was sentenced to be hanged; for allegedly killing their Indonesian domestic worker by depriving her of food, the recent in a series of breaking news atrocities. Reacting to this terrible incident in countries like Saudi Arabia, the ILO or International Labor Organization, a wing of United Nations, formulated a treaty to secure domestic workers in the year 2011.
But still the crime continues and only 14 nations have approved the treaty.
Some clicked photos of these women are clearly alarming. In various, young girls display their mars. One Indonesian woman shows her naked back with purple-colored blisters that look similar to wings, from boiling water spewed on her in Malaysia. A Nepali woman shows her pregnant stomach, the evidence of her abusive rape while she was working in the Middle East—and how she was then sent behind the bars for infidelity afterward.
The eyes of these abused women showed pain and almost begged onlookers to pay heed to what happened with them. The photo journalists and reporters also got a chance to visit shelters in India, Hong Kong and women back in countries like Philippines, Indonesia and Nepal where they talked to woman. They shared their stories. Some women have been disowned by their own families and relatives. One was placed in hiding and another woman who had over 30 scars on her body was married to a man after she came back home.
The reason behind this reporting and investigating the women status was to tell them that this horrible evil have to publicized just for the sake of humanity. In other words, people should know that this act happened and women were the ones who were victim always.
